Sunnyside Gardens Queens, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Sunnyside Gardens is an area located in Sunnyside, Queens, which is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of the first communities that were planned in the US.

Sunnyside Gardens is composed mostly of one, two and three-family houses, and some apartment buildings, all made of Hudson brick, as it was cheap and durable, so it was a good alternative to common brick.

The private residences are large and have a garden in the back, and another front garden that overlooks the street.

Multi-family house rental units include their private terrace overlooking the gardens.

There are two forms of residence, the courtyard, and the moss; on the edges of the community some houses simply line up in the street, with a common footbridge along the row. The houses in the courtyard blocks enclose an interior courtyard that was designated as common, landscaped but not used for recreation.

Each owner owned and paid taxes on the common part of the block and lot, even if it wasn’t used. The mews houses face a common front and back yard in the alleys and also have a private backyard.

This model offers ample space and open areas, allowing for denser residential development.

The City Housing Corporation reserved lots on the northern edge of the development adjacent to the railroad yards for a private park as a service to residents.

This is one of only two private parks in the city, the other being Gramercy Park. These well-planned garden homes are now listed as a historic district.
